Group policy is a tool for organizations to lock down certain settings so they cannot be modified by their users. The Group Policy Editor is included with Regex Password Vault 5 and later and does not need to be licensed separately.
How to apply group policy
Unlike Windows group policy, Regex Password Vault group policy is not set remotely. Instead, policies must be set on each workstation where Regex Password Vault is installed. Policies are applied by adding values to the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Regex Software\Password Vault 5\Group Policy.
There are two ways to set group policy on a workstation:
•Use the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.exe) located in the Regex Password Vault installation directory
•Create the registry values directly using your utility of choice.
Important: You must ensure each end user has read-only access to the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Regex Software\Password Vault 5\Group Policy so that the policies you have set cannot be subverted.
See the topics under Group Policy Reference for details about the individual policies that are available.
